Our Catholic Identity
The heart of The Nativity School’s philosophy is the mission statement that speaks to the Christ-like values that are taught in a nurturing and caring environment that is rich in the spirit of life and love.
By providing a variety of opportunities to worship, learn and serve, our religion curriculum permeates the day, enriching the life of each student and deepening the spiritual experience of our community.
All-school liturgies occur each month, and prayer services take place throughout the year. Middle school students participate in a religious retreat to come together for prayer and to share our faith. Students help plan and participate in all liturgical celebrations and prayer services.
The Virtue of the Month program is presented to the school through Monday morning assembly. This program has been in existence since the school opened its doors in 1996 as an integral part of character development. Character development is also supported by John Wooden's Pyramid of Success and the philosophy of athletics in the Play Like a Champion Today™ program from the University of Notre Dame. Our character development program offers a reflection and spiritual growth dimension to the classroom religion curriculum. It is re-enforced with a school wide “Choice Award” program of acknowledgment for students who are living and acting in accordance with Jesus’ teachings.
